The Founder
Darrell Morris is the owner and founder of Devise Innovations, a Houston, Texas based web design and application development firm. Darrell holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Houston.
While attending U of H’s Bauer College of Business, he was active in many organizations including Mu Iota Sigma (a MIS Honor Society), Finance Association, and Gamma Iota Sigma (a Risk Management/Finance Society).
During school he worked full-time job as a tech support analyst for Yahoo! SBC DSL. Exciting right…I know. After a while they realized that potential couldn’t be held back. He was quickly moved in the consulting department of Yahoo! Small Business as a Merchant Solutions consultant supporting E-Commerce and Website customers. While supporting these customers he realized two things: 1) Not many of them knew what they were doing and 2) If they knew what they were doing they could be making more money. And a light bulb was lit!
The Start
While finishing up the last semester at U of H, Darrell was able to get real life experience in IT consulting working with clients at the University of Houston Small Business Development Center. One night during his late night shifts at Yahoo!, a customer couldn’t get a link to work on his website. This was not something that was supported by Yahoo!, but was badly needed by the company who had just launched their site. The client said that they would pay ANYTHING to get the link working. Price was set, work was done, and deliverable was completed. This was the start of a great business idea, and in the winter of 2005 Devise Innovations was made.
The Now
As 5 years has passed since the inception of the business idea much has changed. Darrell quickly realized that his talents were best suited in seeking out and developing business while handling the project management aspect using a methodology called Scrum. Through hard work and networking, Devise Innovations has sought out some of the best talents to devise solutions for clients that allow their business to take off, keep up with the fast paced changes in technology, and solve issues that have kept their business from reaching its full potential. We continue to network and seek out the best talents and allow them to focus on what they do best while increasing our customer experience and support to deliver the most innovative and creative sites in the marketplace today.
